Mary O’Penetrante

Professor, Central Philippine University

A professor at Central Philippine University, Iloilo City, Philippines.  She joined the university in 1991 and since then she has served the university in various capacities:  as chair of the Department of Computer Science for 5 years, as program coordinator of the Doctor of Management program for 2 years, and as director of the university research center for 5 years.

While performing her job at the university, she also works as a project manager in various R&D projects, such as the Rethinking Plastics in Iloilo City, Mainstreaming Clean Cities, Blue Ocean Program in Iloilo City, Riverine Waste Analysis and Characterization Study,  Recycling Value chain Analysis, plastic products consumer research, formative research, Strengthening the Local Government Units and Civil Society Organizations’ partnership towards participative, responsive, and sustainable development, Solid waste management practices in higher education institutions in Iloilo City, streamlining of business permit and licensing systems of various local government units.  She also has long years of experience in facilitating workshops on local and economic development, industry competitiveness, green and gender-responsive value chain analysis, regional and provincial industry assessment and strategic planning, and process documentation. She has published scientific papers in refereed journals, presented papers at regional, national, and international conferences, and has developed reference materials.

She has a bachelor‘s degree in Business Administration, a master’s degree in business administration, a doctorate’s degree in management with a concentration in business management, and a post-doctoral degree in Adult Learning and Pedagogy.
